Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child
Traditional song recorded by a great many people, associated with the Civil Rights Movement
Performed by Gloria Monday (Karen Hisom & Chris Rust) at Nether Edge Bowling Club, Sheffield (The Grand Ol’ Bowling Club) on 9 April 2026

This arrangement started when Karen and Chris were jamming at a party a few years ago with Chris’s brother Godfrey, who was a great musician and songwriter. Godfrey died a few days before this performance so it’s very much in his memory, hence Chris’s uncharacteristic comments at the start.

Hard Times Again

Blue Moon
Written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934, recorded by almost everybody, including us at Cafe #9, Sheffield in Jan 2015.
It’s a bit slow and ploddy by our current standards but it was notable for us because we re-arranged it on the fly that night as we played and we are still playing more or less the same arrangement.
